FAQs
What should I wear to the races?
This all depends on the venue and enclosure however you can't go far wrong with an elegant midi dress. Stricter enclosures like Royal Ascot's Royal Enclosure require below-the-knee hemlines, wide shoulder straps and a headpiece, while more relaxed enclosures allow more flexibility. Always check your event's dress code before renting your outfit.
Do I need a hat or fascinator for the races?
Again this is dependent on the venue. Some enclosures require a hat or fascinator, others don't. Check your specific event's dress code. It is however part of the tradition to wear a headpiece to the races, so if you fancy it, why not!
Can I wear a jumpsuit to the races instead of a dress?
In most enclosures, yes you can. A jumpsuit with sleeves or structured straps is generally an accepted alternative to a dress. Check your specific venue's rules to be sure.
What shoes work best for a day at the races?
Block heels, wedges or heeled mules tend to be the most practical choice for navigating grassy racecourses comfortably all day. Stilettos can be a little tricky and uncomfortable for all day wear.
